Mapping the intellectual structure and landscape of nano-drug delivery systems in colorectal cancer

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent malignancy affecting the digestive tract, and its incidence has been steadily rising over years. Surgery remains primary treatment modality for advanced colorectal cancer, complemented by chemotherapy. The development of drug resistance to chemotherapy significant contributor failure in cancer. Nanodrug delivery systems (NDDS) can significantly improve efficacy antitumor drugs multiple ways. However, there lack visualization NDDS research structures hotspots field elaboration potential areas be discovered. Objective: To comprehensively explore current status trend CRC research. Methods: Bibliometric analysis articles reviews on published between 2002 2022 using tools including CiteSpace, VOSviewer, R-bibliometrix, Microsoft Excel was performed. Results: A total 1866 publications authored 9,870 individuals affiliated with 6,126 institutions across 293 countries/regions were included analysis. These appeared 456 journals. Abnous Khalil highest number this field. most journals are International Journal Nanomedicine, Pharmaceutics, Biomaterials. Notably, Controlled Release citation count third-highest H-index. Thematic identified “inflammatory bowel disease”,“ “oral delivery," “ulcerative colitis” as requiring further development. Keyword revealed that colitis,” “exosomes,” “as1411”have emerged keywords within last 2 emerging may become focal points future Conclusion: Our findings reveal landscape intellectual structure which helps researchers understand trends hot spots
